Another Carnival Ship to Undergo Multi-Million-Dollar Renovation

800px-Carnival_MS_Imagination,_MiamiCarnival Cruise Line announced a new renovation project for one of the oldest cruise ships of its fleet on Thursday.

Carnival Imagination will undergo an extensive multi-million-dollar renovation this month. The cruise ship is planned to be fitted with an array of new amenities that have been rolling out across the Carnival fleet, the cruise line has recently announced.

The 2,056-passenger cruise ship is scheduled to go into dry dock from September 4 to September 21 this year. The extensive makeover is aimed at upgrading the ships food and beverage concepts. New spaces, mostly poolside restaurants and bars, that are features on many other Carnival ships, will be added over the course of the three-week dry dock in September.

The 21-year old cruise ship underwent its last refurbishment in 2010. The vessel already offers its guests the Seuss at Sea program in partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, a WaterWorks aqua park with a 300-foot Twister slide and the Serenity adults-only retreat.

Various new dining venues and bars are expected to be added: a complimentary poolside eatery BlueIguana Cantina, which serves Mexican food and Guy’s Burger Joint, a burger free-of-charge poolside restaurant developed in partnership with Food Network personality Guy Fieri. New bars will also be added, including  include the poolside Caribbean-themed RedFrog Rum Bar, the outdoor BlueIguana Tequila Bar offering Mexican-themed atmosphere, and the cocktail pharmacy-themed Alchemy Bar. Guests will also be able to enjoy the “sweetest spot on board” which offers sweets, gifts and custom apparel from Cherry On Top.

Florida-based cruise operator is the only cruise line to operate three ships year-round from the US West Coast with Carnival Imagination, Carnival Inspiration and Carnival Miracle.

Following the three-week refurbishment, Carnival Imagination will resume her year-round schedule of three- and four-day Baja cruises from Long Beach, California.
