Carnival’s New and Largest Cruise Ship Completes Construction Milestone

Carnival Cruise Line’s largest ever cruise ship, Mardi Gras completed a construction milestone yesterday when she touched water for the first time.

After Mardi Gras floated out of the dry dock, the vessel was repositioned to a new location at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland to finalize its interior and exterior outfitting, including the installation of the first roller coaster at sea, dubbed BOLT, part of the Ultimate Playground outdoor recreation area.

Five Ships Spotted in Port Canaveral Before New Year’s Eve

Port Canaveral is among the busiest cruise ports in the world with 4.5 million cruise passengers annually.

Five cruise ships have been spotted docking at the same time in Port Canaveral a day before New Year’s Eve. The cruise ships are Royal Caribbean’s Grandeur of the Seas, Disney Cruise Line’s Dream, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Bliss, Carnival Cruise Line’s Liberty, and Royal’s Mariner of the Seas.

Second Norwegian Ship Based at Port Canaveral for Winter Season

The Norwegian Breakaway arrived at Port Canaveral on Saturday, starting a five-month seasonal service as a Port Canaveral-based ship.

The Breakaway is the second Norwegian Cruise Line ship that joins the Port Canaveral lineup as the Norwegian Sun also will be based here for more than seven months from fall 2019 to spring 2020.

The Norwegian Breakaway will replace the slightly older and larger Norwegian Epic at Port Canaveral. The Epic has been based at Port Canaveral for three consecutive fall/winter sailing seasons. Both Norwegian ships will sail a total of 67 voyages from Port Canaveral.

Royal Caribbean Announces New Private Island in Vanuatu

Royal Caribbean International announced its newest private island that will be called “Perfect Day at Lelepa”.

On Monday, the cruise line announced its latest plan to build a sustainable private island in Vanuatu, the South Pacific.

Perfect Day at Lelepa will be Royal Caribbean’s second island in the Perfect Day private island collection, following up the highly-successful Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas.

The cruise line also explained the island will be the first carbon-neutral private cruise destination in the world as it will be built with sustainability complete with features designed to safeguard the island’s ecosystems.

Disney Cruise Line Announces Spring 2021 Cruise Itineraries

In its newly released itinerary announcement, Disney Cruise Line said it will have three ships based in Florida in early-2021, two at Port Canaveral and one – based in Miami.

A fourth ship, the 2,713-passenger Disney Wonder, will have three home-ports during the January to May 2021— Galveston, New Orleans, and San Diego.
