Disney Cruise Line Announces Spring 2021 Cruise Itineraries

In its newly released itinerary announcement, Disney Cruise Line said it will have three ships based in Florida in early-2021, two at Port Canaveral and one – based in Miami.

A fourth ship, the 2,713-passenger Disney Wonder, will have three home-ports during the January to May 2021— Galveston, New Orleans, and San Diego.

Tropical Storm Dorian Forces Cruise Lines to Modify Itineraries

Major cruise line operators have changed the itineraries of some cruises to avoid Hurricane Dorian.

Cruise ships sailing from Port Canaveral have changed their itineraries to avoid the tropical storm.

Dorian has forced cruise lines to shift their ships out of the storm path, while at the same time shutting down operations at private islands. In addition to voyages changed into longer trips, Royal Caribbean also closed down CocoCay, the theme-park like island in the Bahamas with a water slide that rises 148.5 feet above the mostly flat island. CocoCay won’t be taking any cruise ships though Tuesday, September 3.

Disney Cruise Line May Be Testing A Man Overboard System

Recently, a video taken by a passenger aboard the Disney Fantasy cruise ship was posted on Twitter. It shows a test dummy tied to a rope and being dropped over the railing of a passenger balcony at the stern of the Disney Fantasy , violently twisting at the end of the rope, and then being slowly pulled back up to the balcony. The crew apparently dropped and retrieved the dummy several times.

Crane Strikes Cruise Ship During Dry Dock: Eight People Injured

Eight people are injured as a crane hit one of the world’s biggest cruise ships Oasis of the Seas in the Bahamas.

The huge Oasis of the Seas was hit by a construction crane in a dry dock near Freeport and eight dockyard workers were injured.

The ship,which had been based at Port Canaveral, was undergoing routine maintenance on Grand Bahama Island, when the massive crane struck the ship, shipyard management reported. The accident happened on Monday at around 1.45pm local time. A construction crane came down and smashed into the stern of the fourth largest cruise ship in the world which has a capacity of 6,300 people. The crane smashed into the area its AquaTheatre is located causing the huge 228,225-tonne liner to list.
