Norwegian Sun Completes First Season of Cruises to Cuba from Port Canaveral

Norwegian to return for Cuba cruises at Port Canaveral in 2019.

Norwegian Sun will complete her first season of cruises to Cuba from Port Canaveral, Florida with the last sailing on September 3, 2018. Then, she moves to Miami for select sailings then repositioning to South America for her fall-winter season, officials announced for the company. 

Norwegian Cruise Line is adding even more cruises to Cuba next year, the company added. Norwegian Sun is scheduled to return to Port Canaveral in April 2019 to start its new Cuba itineraries.

Norwegian Sun, the first ship to cruise to Cuba with a homeport of Port Canaveral, welcomed over 30,000 guests during her summer season. Port Canaveral invested $35 million in terminal renovations in advance of the new itinerary to Havana. Passengers embarking on the Sun spent a full day and night in Havana exploring a city and island with an incredible history and culture.

The ship completed 15 voyages on her four-day Cuba cruise itinerary with port-of-calls in Key West and an overnight in Havana. Her 16th sailing to Cuba from Port Canaveral, which is the last for the season, departs September 3 for a five-day voyage to Key West, an overnight in Havana and a visit to Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegians private island in the Bahamas.
