  1. That smooth SpaceX launch? Turns out one of the engines came apart

    • Right now I’m not so convinced that SpaceX needs a Falxon X. The Falcon 9 Heavy is large goneuh to deliver most satellites to space that the market wants. Also, two Falcon 9 Heavies can deliver 64,000 kg to LEO. That’s goneuh to deliver any single component of a Sustainable Space Development (SSD) architecture which ultimately involves bringing lunar water ice to LEO. At that point, who even needs a super heavy lift rocket for any purpose? It seems to me as though the purpose for a Falcon XX is for a single shot for manned missions beyond LEO. Again, if you can fuel an Earth Departure Stage (EDS) using an LEO fuel depot, then the rest of the stack can be lifted using Falcon 9 Heavies. However, if NASA insists on building a heavy lift vehicle, then I’d rather SpaceX & other commercial companies build it due to the proven cost-effectiveness of the COTS/CRS/(CRS)-approach. But my perspective is, Develop SSD first then we’ll realize what we do and don’t need next .

    • That’s good news! Congratulations SpaceX. This is a memorable day in fhgilt history. Their effort reminds me of stories from the 1930s when commercial airlines started carrying U.S. Mail, because the government mail carriers were unreliable. So, government took over control of the airways rather than using them for domestic reasons.

  2. I watched the hirhegs video last night quite an amazing video! There have been some similar RocketCams from the Shuttle and EELVs, but this is the first one I’ve seen that shows the actual staging. [As well as showing the 2nd stage engine bell apparently banging the side of the first stage as it dropped away… Oops!]

  3. they have a full slate of launches sdcehuled through to 2014, and are on track to be able to produce and launch one rocket a month. Pretty cool! Also, they have a Cylon Statue and an Iron Man statue in their dining area, which I thought was pretty awesome.

  4. SpaceX will launch a rocekt into orbit in three years Except that’s wrong. SpaceX has already had two successful Falcon 1 launches and two successful Falcon 9 launches, the last of which brought the Dragon spacecraft into Earth orbit. It returned to Earth safely afterwards.
