Norwegian Cruise Line Opens Bookings for New Cuba Sailings

Norwegian Sun cruises to Cuba from Port Canaveral are now on sale.
The Miami-based line will send Norwegian Sun to Cuba from Port Canaveral on four-night trips beginning next summer.

Norwegian Cruise Line has just begun taking reservations for the four-night trips, which will kick off in May 2018. The plans for the sailings were announced earlier this month. The voyages will take place every week during the summer with departures on Mondays, beginning May 7 next year. Continue reading

Port Canaveral Moves Forward on New Bigger Cruise Terminal

Port Canaveral will build a new bigger and better $150M cruise terminal. Port Canaveral commissioners have recently agreed to move forward with plans to build a new cruise terminal, even bigger than the current terminals. The new facility is set to debut in late 2019.
The Canaveral Port Authority will vote at its June 28 meeting whether or not to issue a formal solicitation for the design of a planned new cruise terminal facility, designed to accommodate ships with to 8,000 passengers, such as Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-level cruise ships. Continue reading

Coast Guard Cutter Eagle Arrives In Port Canaveral, Open For Free Tours

The Coast Guard Cutter Barque Eagle, “America’s Tall Ship” arrived in Port Canaveral and will be open for free, public tours through June 4.

The ship will be moored for five days at Cruise Terminal 3, 220 Christopher Columbus Drive.

The tour schedule is:

Wednesday, May 31 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Thursday, June 1 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Friday, June 2 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Saturday, June 3 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Sunday, June 4 – closed

The summer 2017 deployment lasts five months and includes 14 ports, including Port Canaveral and four international ports.

The Coast Guard Cutter Eagle last visited Port Canaveral 13 years ago. After Florida, the crew will set sail to Norfolk, Virginia.

Carnival Adds Gas Cleaning Systems to 60 Cruise Ships

Carnival Corporation the world’s largest cruise operator announced yesterday it has installed Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems (EGCS) on 60 ships across its 10 brands. The company is planning to deploy the cleaning systems to 85 ships of its fleet through 2020 in its effort to improve the quality of air emissions and reduce the environmental impact of their ships.
