Harmony of the Seas will be the biggest cruise ship ever built and the third in the line’s Oasis class ship, announced Royal Caribbean last Wednesday. The ship which is currently under construction at the STX shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, will span 16 decks and it will carry 5,479 passengers, surpassing its sister ships Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas. The first building block of the Seven Seas Explorer was placed during a special keel laying ceremony held at the Fincantieri shipyard in Genoa, Italy only a month ago. The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the creation of the most luxurious ship ever built. With the estimated investment of $450 million for the construction, it is currently the most expensive cruise liner as well. The financing is provided by Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank.

Lee Wachtstetter, an 86-year-old widow from Florida, sold her five-bedroom home on 10 acres in the area of Fort Lauderdale and became a permanent luxury cruise ship resident for only $164,000 a year, according to Florida Today.
