people are injured as a crane hit one of the world’s biggest cruise ships Oasis of the Seas in the Bahamas.
The huge Oasis of the Seas was hit
by a construction
crane in a dry dock near Freeport and
eight dockyard workers were injured.
The ship,which had been based at Port Canaveral, was undergoing routine maintenance on Grand Bahama Island, when the massive crane struck the ship, shipyard management reported. The accident happened on Monday at around 1.45pm local time. A construction crane came down and smashed into the stern of the fourth largest cruise ship in the world which has a capacity of 6,300 people. The crane smashed into the area its AquaTheatre is located causing the huge 228,225-tonne liner to list.
Disney Cruise Line gets approval for second Bahamas private island.
Almost 20 years after Castaway Cay debuted, Disney Cruise Line is planning to add a second private island destination in the Bahamas.
Florida-based cruise operator has won preliminary approval from the Bahamian government to build a destination for its ships on the southern tip of the island of Eleuthera, known for its pink sand beaches and surf. Continue reading →
Port Canaveral will host Norwegian Cruise Line again and prepares for the arrival of the Norwegian Spirit. A 879-foot, 75,338 tons and 1,996-guest ship, the Spirit was constructed for Star Cruises by Meyer-Werft and launched in 1998. She was bought by Norwegian Cruise Line in 2004 and renamed Norwegian Spirit. It’s the only ship of its class in the Norwegian fleet. The ship is presently based in Barcelona and will leave Europe on November 5th, 2015 on a 16-day cruise to Florida visiting Madeira, Antigua, St. Kitts, St. Maarten and St. Thomas. Continue reading →
