Harmony of the Seas to be the World’s Largest Cruise Ship

Section_of_Anthem_of_the_SeasHarmony of the Seas will be the biggest cruise ship ever built and the third in the line’s Oasis class ship, announced Royal Caribbean last Wednesday. The ship which is currently under construction at the STX shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, will span 16 decks and it will carry 5,479 passengers, surpassing its sister ships Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas. Widow sells home to live full-time on luxury cruise ship

800px-Crystal_Serenity_02Lee Wachtstetter, an 86-year-old widow from Florida, sold her five-bedroom home on 10 acres in the area of Fort Lauderdale and became a permanent luxury cruise ship resident for only $164,000 a year, according to Florida Today.

The widow used to love cruising with her husband and she promised him she would keep on the tradition. After her husband passed away, she took her daughter’s advice, decided to be on the move and to see the world while living in the lap of luxury. Continue reading

Port Canaveral to add charging stations for electric vehicles

800px-Electric_vehicle_charging_station_at_Intermodal_Transit_Facility_-_Hillsboro,_OregonPort Canaveral is planning to add charging stations for electric vehicles at the parking lot near the Exploration Tower area. The project will be developed in partnership between the port and Nissan.

Nissan which makes the Leaf electric cars will pick up some of the costs. Nissan Motor Company Ltd will spend about $31,000 for the cost of the equipment and Port Canaveral will pay another $18,376 for the engineering, design and installation work. Continue reading

Residents opposed to Port Canaveral’s railroad project

800px-08_tory_railtrack_ubtPort Canaveral Authority has recently approved the design of the new $75 million automotive import/export complex. The port needs to have direct rail service into the area.

The port’s authorities have announced their intention to file a request with the Surface Transportation Board to construct and operate approximately 11 miles of new rail line between Port Canaveral and the Florida East Coast Railway near Titusville, Florida. Continue reading
